When Do You Need Skin
Substitutes For Wound Care?

A wound must meet the following qualifications to be considered a viable candidate for advanced graft treatment. Meeting these criteria improves the likelihood of successful wound closure. 
The wound must be at least 30 days old.
It must have a minimum size of 1 cm².
It must be free
of infection.
The wound must be a full-thickness wound.
It has failed to respond to documented, conservative wound care efforts.
There should not be any exposed tendon, capsule, or bone.
The wound area must have adequate circulation.
The patient has been counseled on factors that can impede healing, such as tobacco use.
